Mrs. Lugenbeel

I am a North Carolina–licensed teacher with over 19 years of classroom and tutoring experience, proudly serving families in the Lake Norman, NC area. I recently stepped away from the traditional classroom to focus on providing targeted literacy tutoring for struggling early elementary readers.

I am Orton-Gillingham trained and specialize in helping students ages 5–8 who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing, including children with dyslexia. This work is deeply personal to me, as I have firsthand experience supporting my own son through reading challenges.

My tutoring focuses on phonics, decoding, spelling, and writing through clear, structured lessons that break skills into manageable steps. Students receive repeated practice so learning sticks, confidence grows, and real progress is made. While learning to read can take more time for children with learning differences, it can happen with the right instruction and support.

I believe every child can learn — just not in the same way or at the same pace. My literacy tutoring sessions are intentional, supportive, and engaging, using games, attainable goals, and encouragement to keep students motivated. After each session, my goal is for students to feel proud of their progress, confident in their abilities, and excited to continue learning to read.
