Is this tutoring right for my child?
This program is designed for children ages 5–8 (grades K–3) who are struggling with reading, spelling, or writing. If your child feels frustrated, avoids reading, or is not making expected progress, reading intervention may be a good fit.
Do you help with homework or school assignments?
No. I focus on reading intervention rather than homework help or enrichment. Instruction targets the foundational skills your child needs to become a confident reader.
How often should my child attend sessions?
Struggling readers benefit from more frequent instruction. Bi-weekly or tri-weekly sessions are recommended to help skills stick and support steady progress.
How long does it take to see progress?
Every child progresses at their own pace. While learning to read can take longer for students with learning difficulties or dyslexia, consistent instruction leads to meaningful growth over time.
Do you work with students with dyslexia?
Yes. I am Orton-Gillingham trained and have experience supporting dyslexic students through structured, explicit instruction.
What to Expect in a Session
Each session is structured, supportive, and encouraging. Lessons are carefully planned based on your child’s individual needs and skill level.
A typical session may include:
-
Review of previously learned skills
-
Explicit instruction in phonics, decoding, spelling, or writing
-
Guided practice with repetition to help learning stick
-
Games or hands-on activities to keep learning engaging
-
Positive feedback and encouragement throughout
Sessions are designed to build confidence while providing clear, step-by-step instruction. After each session, students leave feeling proud of their progress and excited to return, believing that they can learn to read.
